OPTIMIZED AGRICULTURAL NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT
2026 – 2028
The goal of the project is to reduce nutrient loading in the Baltic Sea by improving and optimizing nutrient management in agriculture. Farmers can reduce costs, improve yields, and minimize environmental impact by optimizing nutrient application. This means developing nutrient management strategies for providing plants with the right nutrients, at the right time, in the right format for best availability, and the right amounts to respond to verified needs. The project focuses on implementing this through stabilization techniques (biochar and humic/fulvic acids) for slurry and mineral fertilizers, precise nutrient assessments, and also AI-driven recommendations.
This project is co-funded by the Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) Fund, managed by Nefco and NIB.
The project implements a two-step approach to optimizing nutrient management.
Using biochar and humic/fulvic acids on slurry.
